As many of the people who have posted have said, I think that the most responsible and peaceful way to deal with the gun would be to show it to his father. His father is a grown man who would know what to do with it, and it would keep anyone from getting shot, at least with that particular gun. Sam is unsure about whether violence or nonviolence is the right answer, but I believe that he should not remain involved with the Black Panthers because it would only lead to more unnecessary trouble and danger.
