If I were in Sam's shoes I would side with my father because not only does he have more experience and knowledge, but I believe that violence would not get me, or the civil rights movement, anywhere. Although it may seem like what Sam's father is doing is not really changing anything, the speeches he gives have a large effect on many people, and more and more people listen and realize that what he's saying is true. Additionally, Stick is only a teenager, and he doesn't have the understanding or maturity of his father. As Sam, I would feel more comfortable siding with my father because it is what I know and have been taught to believe in.
