I think Sam should stick with his gut feeling and not let others influence his decision. He wants to side with his father but at the same time he wants to explore the Black Panthers with his brother, Stick. Sam knows that his father's way is more peaceful and the Black Panthers demonstrations can get violent. If I were in Sam's shoes, I would stick with the way I was raised, the peaceful way. Sam doesn't want to defy his father's wishes and he really admires his father's opinions. Sam's father strives to be a better person in his society and is a very good influence on Sam. Although he put a lot of thought into his decision, Stick doesn't necessarily know what he is doing for he is only a teenager. Stick's lack of experience and their father's level of maturity and knowledge contribute to Sam siding with his father.
