I think they should definitely get violent. Nonviolence is nice when it works, but the whites in Chicago were too stubborn to let it work, and the only solution to the problems for the African Americans in Chicago is, I hate to say it, but to lash back with hatred. I could never expect anyone to be nonviolent when their dad got stabbed because of his race. Only with a real backlash would the African Americans ever convince the whites: "Don't mess with us".

    Michael, I feel the need to disagree with you. If your dad was stabbed because of his race would you use violence as a form of backlash? I personally would practice nonviolence and use my words to fight my feelings.

    I agree with Lauren. Fighting back will give them a reason to attack. They are the bad guys if one is nonviolent. Also, we can not assume that every white in Chicago is racist. It might be possible to get enough people one your side to help deal with the really stuborn people.
