I think that Sam should have definitely shown the gun to his father. Even if it meant Stick would distance himself even further away from his dad, it is better than him using the gun to hurt someone. Two wrongs don't make a right, and even if African Americans are getting beat up just because of their race, it doesn't make it okay for the Black Panthers to come at them (the people who beat them up) with guns.
